Urban Intelligence have updated our ACT Development Application statistics for the period up to the end of June 2026. This review considers the June quarter and also end of 2025-26 FY positions.

In June 60 DAs were lodged (156 over the quarter). June was up 13 compared to May, but over June Quarter was down by 55 DAs compared to March Quarter. The 2025-26 FY closed with 742 DAs, down 27 compared with 2024-25, and the lowest recorded since 2019-20.

While lower overall 2025-26 saw a small uptick in single residential and multi-residential DAs. These were offset by falls in secondary residence and mixed-use DAs. Secondary and muti-residential DAs are at the lowest annualised level since 2019-20.

The average DA duration for June 2026 was 83 days and the median was 45 days. Compared with the monthly average since the start of the 2023 Planning Act June is higher by 25.4 days on average.

Recall that, DAs are not Building Approvals (BA) or Completions. The ACT Government does not publish BA or completion data, with the source for those statistics being the ABS.
